Music Overview
|
The Music Program includes all kinds of music: Classical, Jazz, Pop, Rock & Roll, and Music from American Theater. Each camper receives 1½ hours of private lesson time each week, on either one or two instruments/voice, and may participate in various ensembles and classes. This actively allows them to pursue two instruments/voice that they are already in before camp, or start a new second instrument/voice at camp.
Large ensembles include orchestras, wind ensembles, jazz bands, and choruses. Small ensembles include chamber music, jazz combos, and rock bands. Campers perform in and attend many concerts—usually between three and five performances per week, including camper concerts, staff concerts, and guest performances given by visiting professional artists. Music classes include theory, ear training, history, literature, conducting, arranging and composition. Campers and parents receive written lesson evaluations from our private instructors at the end of each summer, which we hope is helpful in bringing parents as well as school-year private teachers up-to-date on what material was covered during lessons at camp. |
