ENCORE-CODA NOTES
2008 Postings
Updated 6/9/08
Greetings and a very happy 2008 to all!
Now that we're doing this newsletter on the web, we'll be posting news items to this space as we receive them, instead of waiting to release them all at once, so please check back here from time to time to see the new postings. Preparations for summer 2008 (the 59th) continue every day at the camp office in Brookline and we look forward to seeing so many of our friends soon up at Stearns Pond. We always look forward to seeing alumni during the summer and we welcome you all to come visit anytime after the beginning of June. Just check the camp calendar and then call or email to let us know you’re coming. Also, we've recently updated the camp history page, in case you want to get the full story on how it all came to be and there's a nice review of the Camp Katahdin reunion last August.
Be well and stay in touch,
Jamie & Ellen

Elana Hammel with her daughter, Siena Eris,
practicing for their next Carnegie Hall Appearance.
Elana Hammel (Camper 1980's) is busy these days as a performing pianist and a mommie! She writes "Our daughter, Siena Eris, was born in St. John's, Newfoundland, on Sept-11-2006 at 2:45 PM - exactly five years --to the minute-- after the New York-bound flight that was carrying her father (Jonathan Kitzen) landed in St John's, having been diverted there due to the WTC attacks. His accidental arrival in 2001 led to our purchasing a house there in 2003 and to her birth on that very meaningful day five years later. In June 2007, nine months after her birth, I had my NYC debut in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall as part of my piano duo, the Duo Scarbó. We performed an all Gershwin/Ravel program, which we also played throughout New York State, Florida and Spain and which we recorded to be released on CD this year. Currently I am back in Spain rehearsing for an upcoming concerto performance in Toronto with the Brampton Symphony Orchestra. I send hugs to fellow campers and staff from '87-'89 and '92. Would love to hear from you! www.duoscarbo.com Trent Austin (Staff 2000's) is a blur of performing, coaching, teaching, broadcasting, adjudicating and otherwise just spreading great Trumpet vibes throughout New England!
