2007 News and Notes
Greetings to all! We hope everyone is staying well and making good music as the days spin by. Here are a few news items from 2007. Amazingly enough, summer 2008 will be here before we know it and preparations for the 59th season continue every day at the camp office in Brookline. We look forward to seeing alumni during the summer and we welcome you all to come visit anytime after the beginning of June. Just check the camp calendar and then call or email to let us know you’re coming.

| 2007 Intermediate Nico Calabria climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro with his father last fall to raise money for the Free Wheelchair Mission, which supplies wheelchairs for people all over the world who wouldn't be able to get them otherwise. Nico's original goal was to raise $25,000 for the mission, but the amount he has raised now far exceeds that amount as knowledge of his amazing feat has spread. You see, Nico himself has but one leg, making his tremendous achievement even more remarkable and inspiring! Larry Goldings (1980s) has been touring with pop star JAMES TAYLOR for the past year or so and is featured on James' latest recording, One Man Band. Another camp alum, Gail (Livingston) Tolman (1970s) also performs on this recording, as a part of the Tanglewood Festival Chorus, which backs James and Larry on one song. | Kirsten Paige (1990's) is enjoying her studies at the University of Chicago and writes " I love the U of Chicago so much. It's the most amazing place to study and work. I think the most analogous place would be Tanglewood... It's as inspiring and mecca-like here as it is there..." | Kelly Smoot (1970's) was married last April 5th, in Auckland, Australia, to photographer and artist Danny Garret, with whom she has been working for the past few years. | Laura (Heiss) Varas lives in Hingham these days with her husband and three children. Laura and her husband run a wine importing company called Best Valley Wines. | Oliver Hagen (1980s) will be playing in Carnegie's Zenkel Hall this coming January 18, 2008. |
| Glen Nelson (1990s) and his wife Susan have released yet another terrific album of children's rock with their group Spaghetti Cake, this one called "What About Pluto - EP" To find out more about this album, plus all the other Spaghetti Cake recordings, click here. | Jo Horsley (1990s) is living and working in New York City, where he composes music for short movies and commercials, and works with his brother in Littlehorse, "America's only two piano rock band". | Ari Solotoff (1990s) is the executive director of the Portland, Maine Symphony Orchestra. | Fred Sienkiewicz (2000s) has now graduated from New England Conservatory with a Master's Degree in Trumpet and is playing and teaching all over the greater Boston area. | Kaveh Saidi (2000s) has a new CD out called Clear Light Parts the Haze, "an album of instrumental rock music with the violin and guitar at the forefront." Pete is helping to reconstruct the city following the destruction of Hurrican Katrina. Bravo Pete! |
